A BEAUTIFULLY composed original vintage poster from 1952 showing yachts in the old harbour (Vieux Port) of the historic French Atlantic port of La Rochelle. 

Size 99cm x 62cm

Condition Very good. A 10cm tear mid-left, with no paper loss, has been made good behind with tape. The photograph is very clear and bright. If you would like to know more please get in touch.

Background A strategic port on the Bay of Biscay, La Rochelle has endured several sieges over the centuries, the last in 1944-5, just seven years before this scene was photographed. The picture shows on the left the St Nicholas Tower and the Chain Tower, which guard the entrance to the harbour, and on the right the tower of the Clock Gate.
