A DELIGHTFUL original vintage poster from 1948 by the Swiss artist Pierre Monnerat for the mountain resort village of Kandersteg in the Berner Oberland region of Switzerland.

Background The family of hikers are looking out over the Oeschinensee lake, close to Kandersteg, towards the Bluemlisalphorn massif. Monnerat (1917-2006) was chiefly active from the 1940s to the 1960s, working for brands such as Cinzano as well as producing many fine Swiss travel posters.
